Community Leader Calls on College Station Police to Apologize, Correct “Gross Racial Disparity” in Enforcement Actions

Dan Kiniry, Tiny Hope Village: Last year in College Station, Tx, Black folks make up 5% of the driving population, 16% of traffic stops, 39% of vehicle searches and 38% of arrests during traffic stops by College Station PD.

White folks made up 74% of the driving population, 66% of traffic stops, but a mere 49% of searches during traffic stops by CSPD.

So the statement put out by the chief of police of College Station must be read in that context.

I would like for the College Station Police Department to update this statement and include either an apology for this gross racial disparity and the concrete steps that they are taking to correct it, or an explanation of why they think that Black folks in the community are generally so much more criminal than White folks in the community.
