What To Do When You Visit Baytown, TX.
During our most recent trip to the Houston area we got to visit some family that live in Baytown, TX and got to see some amazing art displays and get some good food to eat.
While Houston is one of the largest cities in the US with the Houston Metropolis having a population of about 2.3 million there are many cities and towns that make up the Houston metro area there is much to see in every town.
We have some family that live in Baytown, TX and we got to experience Baytown’s Downtown Arts District and eat some local food only found in Baytown.
Downtown Arts District Baytown, Texas
While Baytown is a port city with major commerce moving in and out of the area there is something to be said for the revitalization the town is doing for their downtown district. The downtown district is comprised of old buildings and one main street housing businesses, restaurants, and the towns square. While currently the city has been working to attract businesses and bring back more to do in the downtown area and I would call it a work in progress there are some cool places to visit like the art installation in between 2 old building that formerly housed a business but was torn down for construction.
This little spot is a perfect spot for a great picture and has murals lining each side of the walls and umbrellas covering where the roof of the old building used to be. The artist took the time to transform this area to a living art exhibit.
Check out these pics I was able to snap in this art installation.
This art installation is super fun and cool to visit especially if you have little ones who are fascinated with art. This is something you can share with them that even though it may not look like much to begin with art can be found anywhere.

A fun and always entertaining place is your local comic book shop! While visiting Baytown we found Nico’s Comics and picked up a few issues and book and helped support local businesses. WE love supporting local if we can!
Good Eats: El Toro Restaurant
I always love taking in the local cuisine and while in Baytown we got to try out El Toro Restaurant! Super delicious food and great margaritas! I was so hungry after having fun all day in Houston that I was only able to snap this photo of my super fresh ceviche and not of the margarita I drank. If you are in the area be sure and check it out! It will not disappoint.
If you choose to visit while in the Houston are Baytown will not disappoint!
